core values
CRUCIFORM LOVE
Christ commands us to love one another as he has loved us, and his perfect model of love is laying down his life for others on the cross. As a community, we see love displayed not in sentimentality or abstract moral reasoning but in active, charitable engagement with our neighbors, strangers, and enemies. Cruciform love includes the prophetic naming of evil as evil, patient suffering, and generous forgiveness.
THOUGHTFUL DEVOTION
We are a community challenged to reflect deeply and critically on our faith as we minister in a contemporary context. We do not settle for surface-level explanations or platitudes for complex experiences but in all instances seek to understand what is at stake in the great mysteries of our faith.
LIVING ORTHODOXY
We are formed deeply by the tradition of the Church—the ancient liturgies of the church, the teachings of the Early Church Fathers and Mothers, and the practical wisdom of the Desert Fathers and Mothers. We seek to live out these ancient teachings and practices in a contemporary context, renewing and rediscovering them for the needs of our modern world.
INTENTIONAL COMMNUNITY
We are a community of friendships and given families. We are a community of foster and adopted children. We are a community of counselors, educators, and public service workers. We are a community where we lay our lives down together as a living offering for God, one another, and the city of Lexington.
